What did you learn from Verne's books and apply to your life? Troy Hoffman reflects on the lessons learned from Mastering the Rockefeller Habits and Scaling Up by Verne Harnish. It's the simplest form of the game outlined, but employees struggled to accept and phase in these principles.

We went from zero employees to 50-60 in four years. There was chaos everywhere and I had just joined EO (Entrepreneurs Organization). I came across Verne's Mastering the Rockefeller Habits and was blowed away by the simplicity.

Cast a vision and get clear on direction.

How do you get quarterly and yearly planning truly going? Not your b.s. ideas or top 5 goals, but diving into true execution maps in your life. Top 5 goals that break down into each quarter, then each month, later each week, and finally applied to the weekly meetings.

How do you execute daily huddles in your organization? This took years to implement and effort to maintain so that true communication can flow quickly and effectively. You may ask: Why should I waste 15 minutes of my day? Why should I tell people what I did yesterday? Why should I share my roadblocks? Why should I share information about what's going on in the company?

These things impacted Simpluris. We have amazing people that execute at the highest level, but the speed of communication and performance improved, because I picked up a book. I read it and said, "I now have a vision and I'm going after that no matter what." While it took 3-5 years to get in sync, it transformed our business.
